HR Generalist (Payroll & Compliance)
Location: Mumbai (Marol) | Permanent (Full-time) | Experience: 3 to 6 years

The Role
We are hiring an HR Generalist who lives and breathes payroll, compliance, and statutory benefits, and who can own the entire employee journey on top of it. Recruitment, business partnering, engagement: all yours. This is not a keep-the-lights-on role. Payroll and statutory are your anchor, but you get something rare: a genuine mandate to rebuild the processes, policies, and systems behind People Ops as we scale past the 50+ countries we already operate in. What You’ll Own
- Payroll (core) - Run the end-to-end monthly payroll cycle for India: inputs, processing, reconciliation, pay slips, and full-and-final settlements. Zero slippage.
- Statutory compliance (core) - Keep us fully compliant across PF, ESIC, PT, TDS on salaries, gratuity, bonus, Shops & Establishments, and every labour register and filing.
- Statutory & company benefits - Administer statutory and company benefits, including group medical cover enrolments, changes, and the employee queries that come with them.
- Employee lifecycle - Own the full journey from onboarding and confirmations through transfers, records, and exits, with clean documentation at every step.
- Systems & audit-readiness - Keep payroll and HRIS data accurate and reconciled in Keka, and keep us audit-ready for internal, statutory, and certification (including ISO) reviews.
- Rebuild, don’t just run - Take a hard look at our people processes, policies, and systems and make them sharper as we scale. This is the part most HR roles never get to do.
- Recruitment - Partner in hiring: screening, coordination, scheduling, offer roll-out, and joining formalities.
- Business partnering - Be the go-to for managers on people matters, policy, and quick, clear query resolution.
- Engagement & culture - Build engagement and culture initiatives alongside the People & Culture team.
- Cross-border - Coordinate with our Philippines team on payroll inputs, benefits, and routine compliance, working alongside the local branch head. Light-touch, not primary ownership of PH compliance.
What You Bring
- 3 to 6 years in an HR generalist or HR operations role, with clear, hands-on depth in payroll and statutory compliance.
- An MBA / PGDM in HR is required. This is a build-and-lead role, and we want the grounding that comes with it.
- Keka is mandatory. Hands-on experience running HR and payroll on Keka is non-negotiable. Proven experience on at least one other enterprise HRMS or payroll system: Darwinbox, greytHR, Zoho People, or SAP SuccessFactors.
- Strong command of the Indian statutory framework: PF, ESIC, PT, TDS, gratuity, bonus, S&E, and labour-law filings and registers.
- The confidence to own the full payroll cycle and statutory calendar on your own, right through audits.
- A firm grasp of the employee lifecycle and the documentation discipline behind it.
- Preferred: a background in logistics, freight, supply-chain tech, or B2B SaaS / enterprise technology.
- Mumbai-based. This is an on-site role in Marol, Andheri (E). We are not considering remote or out-of-city candidates.
